The Universe Is A Beautiful Place

The Universe Is A Beautiful Place

I forget sometimes.

I get caught up. In my own head. In the grind. In problems. In loss. In heartbreak. The pile adds up. And then, out of nowhere, the world taps me on the shoulder. A tide rolling in. A bird in the morning. A child laughing somewhere on the outside. It doesn’t need to be big. In fact, it’s usually small. But it stops me. And I remember: the universe is a beautiful place.

That’s what this song is. Just a reminder. For me, for you, for anyone who needs it.

Writing it, I kept circling back to the simplest truths. Holding a baby (And do I miss that. They grow up way too fast). The warmth of a hand. Someone lost coming back to you. Those moments carry more weight than any big idea ever could. They’re the proof. They’re the whole story.

Even in the hard times, the universe doesn’t stop being beautiful. You just forget to see it. The song is me opening back up, letting it in again.

So this one’s a thank-you. To the sun and the rain, to the people I love, to the smallest life below and the stars above. To the reminders that keep showing up, even when I’m lost.

Listen to it here.

I’ve been in this place for a long time now. Wanting to reach out, to repair what’s broken — but knowing it’s not the time, not the place. So I wait. It’s a strange kind of desperation. You feel it every day, but you can’t act on it. You can’t force someone to be ready. And that’s the hardest part: when all you can do is do nothing. That’s...

I just finished writing a new song called Live a Little. Actually, “finished” isn’t right — it’s more like I caught it, held it, let its edges settle. And now I’m writing this post while the dust is still in the air. My head’s been heavy — full of what I’m not, what’s next, what’s slipping by. I caught myself again tonight chasing tomorrow,...

Lately I keep coming back to the same small thought: most fights are just two people standing on different sides of the same coin. From where you stand, your face of it looks whole. From where I stand, mine does too. I noticed it in the big headlines. And in the small stuff — family rows that never get said, friends who disagree and...

Some days feel heavier than others. Days when I wander through the hours as if they’re covered in fog. I can’t quite name it, can’t quite point to the cause—it’s just there. A dull weight. A dragging undertow. When I look back, I can sometimes trace the reasons. Too little sleep. Too much fast food. A pile of stress left to grow instead...

Love isn’t tidy. It isn’t perfect. Most days, it’s a bit of a mess. We come with scars, with hurt, with old stories about ourselves that tell us: this will never last. And yet—sometimes, against all odds, it does. A Beautiful Thing is my song for the kind of love that keeps showing up, even when it’s tired. The kind that breaks a...

Not too long ago, my uncle passed away. Going through his life, and the way he had lived it, the reality of loneliness became almost tangible to me. It touched me deeply and I started seeing that loneliness. My own, and the kind I saw reflected in people around me. Islands was born out of that loneliness. For my uncle, loneliness had...

Sometimes a writing prompt catches me at just the right moment. That happened today — much like it did when Snow In December arrived. I hadn’t chosen anything for my daily writing yet, and then this idea just dropped into place. The image of an eclipse felt like the perfect way of putting words to those heavy stretches of life, the...

Some songs feel like they arrive from a place I’ve carried for years, even before I had the words. This one is like that. I wrote it out of the way I’ve moved through the world after trauma—always on guard, mistaking control for safety. For a long time, I thought that was living, but the truth is I was only living a half-life. Writing...

For me, songwriting is something that's always going on. Whether I'm aware of it at the moment or not, I'm always picking up little things from my day. Things that make an impression that suddenly form into an idea, into something that resonates with me. As I go through my days and experience these little trickles of the stream, I'm gonna...
